New rules for the municipal elections
The municipal elections to be held starting this year will be regulated by a new legal framework. Article. 1 of Law No 42/2010 has, in fact, changed and integrated into the art. 2 of Law No 191/2009 (Finance Act 2010) on the containment of expenditure of local authorities providing for the gradual reduction in the number of advisers and assessors. In municipalities with a population less than 3,000 inhabitants, one of which is San Nicola Arcella, next to the replacement of elected bodies, the Municipal Council will be composed of nine directors plus the mayor, against 12 under the previous regulations. Consequently, even groups who wish to participate in the competition must have an internal candidate for mayor and nine candidates for alderman. The council will be made, however, the mayor and three commissioners, one fewer than in past "consigliature." (Cs)
